When designing cards for family and friends, I sometimes combine digital photographs and graphics. This Veteran's Day image was created in November 2001 from a digital photo of a pewter statue of the Concord Minuteman, clipart of our flag and a scan of a sign acquired in Concord, MA, after its 1975 Bicentennial celebration. The sign was used to designate parking for the events and I took it as a souvenier. Click here for a larger image.
The elephants were black and white sketches drawn by Kathy, which I then colored. The background is a photo of a part of my backyard. Click here for a larger image.
The two pictures below were taken November 1, 2002 around 4:45 PM. It was a heavy squall and the first snow of the year. The flash on my digital camera went off for both shots. The first picture was totally black, but by using Photoshop's adjustment features, such as levels and curves, I was able to bring out this black and white image. However, I was not able to bring out any color. The second picture was taken about 10 minutes later.

St. Mary's - St. Alphonsus is a local Catholic school and I think the stone relief is beautiful. I separated the relief, did some "repair" to it and added some enhancing filters to make the image on the right.

The background for this Valentine's Day 2003 e-card, is my front yard after a January snowfall. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and the picture was not retouched in any way. I customized it, using clip art and "Winnie the Pooh" characters for some special family members.

This picture of a Box Turtle laying her eggs in a sandy area near my garage, was taken June 2003. It made a cute card, combined with the Looney Tunes character, "Baby Daffy". The eggs will hatch in August. If you click on the larger image of this card, there is a link to a picture showing the area after the turtle covered her nest.
